Hunting raincoat that keeps you dry

Any hot tips for a hunting rain coat that works? The last two I've bought have been a total waste of money when it comes to keeping dry. Huntech shell rated to 20000 and Stoney Creek Tundra and I get saturated. I've also got a 10 year old goretex ski jacket that's mint, but not suitable for hunting.

Something light, camo, packs down easy and can handle a bit of bush laywer would be ideal but mainly just want to stay dry.

Bush lawyer will wreck most raincoats.

I finally tested my Hunters Element Halo a couple of weeks ago, nice and light, packs down small. Kept me completely dry while walking up hills in the rain and long enough to keep my shorts dry.

I've got the Swazi Tahr XP - pretty awesome for the price (incl deerstalker discount). Tough as hell, warm & pretty quiet but it's heavy & doesn't breath terribly well though and you'll get wet inside if you're on the move.

Other end of the spectrum is a shell type jacket - much lighter and more breathable but way less durable.

My experience is if you're moving in the rain you'll get wet no matter what as moisture vapour inside the jacket cannot pass through the outer membrane if it's constantly got water on it (rain).

Rain jackets that keep you dry, what is this you speak of?
I have the hunters element odyssey, non camo. Seems to work keeping rain out but I end up wet with sweat, more so on those muggy wet days. If it's cold and wet jacket seems to regulate better.
If you want a jacket for that sort of abuse you are probably better off with Cheap and cheerful, nothing will last prolonged abuse with Bush lawyer.

Swazi Tahr . Hard to go past . Have the standard and the lightweight. As Harry says if you're on the go you will still get wet from the inside. Apart from that bombproof . As others have said you only need camo for gamebird hunting

Depends on what size jacket you need if you are looking at 5xl plus your limited on choice

The good gear doesn't come in camo
The best raincoat I've found has been the cactus mountain jacket, had it 3 years of hard farm use and still stays dry as, better than any other I've had, it's very bulky though.
For hunting I use a macpac Copland packs down small had for maybe 8 years and I still stay dry, in my experience stay away from the hunting brands if you want to stay dry.

I gave up trying to stay dry, if you’re sitting glassing then sure, but if your actively moving enough sweat will get you sooner or later.
Swandri it is now!! It’s heavy, it’s not camo, it’s wet after a while but it’s warm!
I know what I’d rather be wearing if I get caught out over night….
