Yeah but technology improves over time. A private hut I use is lit by Tilley lamps but not practical in a small tent I feel. Heavy to carry, and every time you move those darn mantles are useless

I thought this thread had died lol..In my experience the old tilley's were only ever used in huts. They were locked up once finished with until next time. Many cupboards were broken into in different areas and the lamps would be used and most over pumped,some stolen.
A great source of light back in the day.....I wouldn't be too keen to stoke one up in a tent though,bugger that eh.
