The Mini is pretty much solely intended for txt messaging i think. The larger inReach would be more suitable for using as a normal GPS.

I like the idea of the Mini solely as a message system when you dont have cell signal, great for extended trips in place of a Sat Phone, you can link your cell phone to the Inreach mini and create the messages on the phone but they get transmitted via the inreach.

Due to limited Battery life of the Mini, i think its still prudent to carry a proper PLB tho.
