    Load shelf style packs

I’m looking into the rabbit hole of load shelf style packs around the 50-60ish litre size. Exo mtn, stone glacier etc. plenty of info/reviews on YouTube based in the states. Any recommendations/things to look out for?

    Cheers

I have a kuiu. I like it. The load shelf is great, keep the bloody meat out of the pack an away from your gear.

Like hunt08, I also have a Spika Drover 40lt. I really rate it mate. A friend of mine has the Kuiu, and in comparison the drover is slightly heavier but is really well made, handles load extremely well and the meat shelf is also interchangeable between the 40lt and 80lt version. I tested a lot of packs before landing on this one and extremely happy with it.

I have a Drover 80L and its great for longer trips and heavy loads. If my ancient Macpac 50L Pursuit ever dies it will be replaced with the 40L Drover as it fits on the same frame as the 80L so only need the bag.

Thanks guys, spiker hasn’t even popped up on any of my searches, look like good solid packs, can’t seem to find any pics of the load shelf and pack being used at the same time though, assume it’s a straight forward buckle type attachment?

Sounds like Tatonka is in the testing stages of their new modulus pack which has a load shelf. Rogee productions on YouTube is currently trialing them out, I think mid year they’re going to hit the market

Army surplus Swedish paratrooper back back. Farking awesome pack designed to carry anything and everything.

$150 NZD for a slightly used one. Can't say enough good things about mine, after years of using flash backpacks this thing just blew me away.
