Hey guys, I was looking at getting one of the M24s when they are back in stock (hopefully) with battery and charger. Being a newbie I have nothing and I am not sure about what to use to mount it to the scope... There was this on the Maxtoch page Aliexpress.com : Buy MAXTOCH Sniper M24, Lighter Version of SN6X 2S, AR Lens, Copper LED Base, Longer Shooting Distance from Reliable copper cab suppliers on EST GROUP Co., Ltd but is that what I should be getting? Thanks in advance....
No.
Something like this is better:
1" scope Tube - "8" Figured SCOPE TORCH RAIL MOUNT (Both 25mm diameter)-in Other Sports & Entertainment Products from Sports & Entertainment on Aliexpress.com
30mm scope tube 30mm & 25mm Tactical 8 FIGURE Flashlight & Laser QQ Scope Clip Mount with Wrench-in Scope Mounts & Accessories from Sports & Entertainment on Aliexpress.com
Chop them below the screws like this and leave it mounted on your scope.

Mount the torch in cheapo 25mm rings like above (not that the torch above is not one of the Maxtochs).
Wholesale 10pcs/lot ZY 9715 High Quality Double Rings 25mm Metal scope mount tactical gun mount-in Hunting Gun Accessories from Sports & Entertainment on Aliexpress.com
Or leave it as a big figure 8 & mount a maxtoch on each side..............rings come in pairs = good excuse for 2 torches at once
Great, thanks for that info.
Yep - we've used the chopped down 8 mounts as pictured for years and they work v well. Another option for scope mounting is this mount:
Accessory Scope Mount 30 + 25.4mm with 20mm rail | Trade Me
This one is from trademe but we get them from overseas for about $8-9 if you hunt round a bit on aliexpress.
Thanks Mudgripz have found one of those so will add it to the list...
It looks like these might be back in stock... have placed an order for one.
The new batch of M24s will be held up for a short time. They picked a defect in the production run and have put sales on hold temporarily to correct it. The torch middle tube had markings on it for the quick twist strobe - but unlike the law enforcement model the hunter version we get doesn't have this mode. Be ready and on sale again shortly. M24 proving very popular with police etc as well as hunters. Makes sense - hell of a light.
New M24 has beefed up performance - round 90-95kcd standard, which will mean about 200-210k dedomed. That's all the light you'll need - about 900 meters ANSI (the American National Standard Institute's measure of beam reach down to equivalent of full moonlight on an object).
Ok - Maxtoch taking steps to create better deliveries ex China. They will cut out chinapost and malaysiapost and use more efficient swedenpost and singaporepost ex Hongkong. This should improve things.
In addition amanda makes this comment:
"An M24 sent by EMS service is around usd15.00 more expensive than economical shipping. Do you think it may be too expensive? In my opinion, faster shipping way gives better customer experience."
So we can have likely better delivery with sweden/singaporepost at still no freight charge - or - if people wish you can choose to go EMS and have torch in 7-14 days. EMS will be a good idea if ordering 2 or more torches to help spread freight cost.
An M24 via say singaporepost will be $68.50US or round $79NZ delivered. Same M24 by EMS = $83.50ish or round $96NZ. This is still WAY under NZ torch prices as nearest equivalent here is many hundred dollars, However, best value when using EMS will be 2-4 torches. Watch for $400 customs threshold.
So its a choice for each buyer. Go for economy with singapore post, or invest a bit more and use very reliable EMS. Both still give huge savings.
Personally I'll watch sweden/singaporepost, and if there are any more probs ex china I will use EMS from now. For orders of 5-6 or more Fedex/DHL is best - v quick and not costly per torch.
All go with new batch of M2s now - back on aliexpress etc.
I currently have this torch
Fenix TK35 LED Flashlight 900 Lumens - Fenix-Store
primarily used for SAR, but occasionally for hunting. @mudgripz. Do you know if it is possible to de dome this light, and would there be any advantage in doing so ? I will probably buy the new maxtoch if not.
+1 Its an XML2-U2 led so dedoming will help it some.
Fenix make some v good lights - fairly expensive when you buy their big grunters.
This one is a very handy outdoor light but stock is not designed for longer range spotting like bigger head Maxtochs. Fenix tk35 has distance claim of 340m, whereas new M24 has ANSI measure of 608m, and new 2X is 680m.
I will let you know if I can see any big difference once it has been dedomed .
Thanks GM

Well well well.... here's a gesture from Maxtoch for all the boys affected by the recent bad china/malaysiapost problems.... Amanda (their marketing and CS person) has asked me to put this letter on the forums:
"Dear hunters,
Recently we have been very concerned that our MAXTOCH deliveries have been badly affected by Malaysiapost (fire etc). All parcels were returned to us and we had to resend them via Singapore post. Because of this the delivery period was much longer than usual. This redelivery process for parcels is now almost complete.
We've been very concerned for our customers. However, to our surprise, all New Zealand customers are very kind and polite. This has been encouraging for us as we dealt with the problem.
To show our appreciation to customers who have had to wait a long time we are going to offer discount coupons for these customers. Next time if you are interested to order another MAXTOCH flashlight, email me first please. Leave me your name and your Aliexpress order number, and I will apply a gift discount for you. :-)
Finally, much appreciated, NZ hunters. MAXTOCH will keep designing nice flashlights for you. Your advice and support is a real asset for us. Thank you.
Best regards,
amanda@maxtoch.cn"
Nice gesture. Looks like a few good deals for some guys next time round.
Excellent PR mudgripz.
That ^ is a company that looks after its customers
+1 True that.
Gadget and I were talking about our experience with Maxtoch couple of days ago. We have no business connection but we and some other guys have had fun helping them with the designs. We both thought that in terms of willingness to listen to customers, make exactly what they ask for, have a great customer attitude etc, this is the best company we've dealt either here in NZ or overseas.
From listening to ideas from lots of kiwi boys - very active hunters - this company now has some of the best hunting/outdoor lights for the price in the world. Some lights now class leading performers etc, and their production runs sell out real quick. As she says ...it works for them too!
Lot of companies could learn from that business model :D
My torch arrived yesterday too. Can someone remind me where or who might have the best deal on charger and decent batteries ??? Thanks

Instead of starting a new thread I'll just ask here. @gadgetman @mudgripz on the subject of de doming, is it worth de doming a cheap zoom headlamp from aliexpress? AloneFire HP79 CREE XM L2 LED 1800LMRechargeable Zoom Headlight LED Headlamp CREE + 2x18650 Battery + AC Charger+ Car charger-in Headlamps from Lights & Lighting on Aliexpress.com
]Is it worth buying the package with the batteries and charger?
No. Anything with a movable lens requires the dome to pre-focus the beam and they typically don't have a reflector. De-doming lets the light escape sideways where the lens does a better job of focusing the beam. I have some similar lights with a fixed flat lens and reflector that works very well de-domed.
High Power 10W 1800 2000 Lumens CREE XML T6 LED Headlamp Headlight 3 Modes LED Head Light Lamp for Bicycle Cycling + Charger-in Headlamps from Lights & Lighting on Aliexpress.com
Haven't read thru properly but is there a new maxtoch again after the sniper model?
They have upped the output a bit in the latest run.
wouldnt mind grabbing a couple of these if anyone interested in putting in a joint order :pacman: ?
Yep +1
If youre doing a bulk order - ie 3-6 - ask amanda about EMS postage. Gets em here much quicker (7-14 days) and not much extra per unit.

The new lightweight M24 Sniper designed by kiwi boys is proving hugely popular - big sales in NZ and being picked up by police and other law enforcement bodies round the world. Production runs sold out real quick.
News: the remote switch for the M24 sniper is now on sale - here's the link. Design exactly as requested:
MAXTOCH Rat Tail/Pressure/Remote Control Switch, Suitable for MAXTOCH Sniper M24-in Switches from Lights & Lighting on Aliexpress.com
Switch is a new design and fits the M24 only - not the 2X. That's fine as the M24 is a scope mounted or handheld spottie at 270gms, and you would not usually use the heavier 2X (440gms) on rifle.
im looking for a new torch. I havnt seen the maxtoch in n.z
can you not focus these?
iv been using a trust fire which has just one led but I can focus the end piece to a spot which is handy between shooting and flood for finding the critters. its great.
I'm ordering an Maxtoch Sniper M24 as well. But be careful when selecting these torches on AliExpress, as the seller (EST Group) still seems to be displaying the older versions for sale as well. As I understand it, the latest version is named M24S as per this link - MAXTOCH Sniper M24S, Improved version of Sniper, Gun Grey Anodization, Hidden Strobe, AR Lens, Copper LED Base, Hunting Torch-in LED Flashlights from Lights & Lighting on Aliexpress.com
Or, if you want the combo of the M24S Torch plus 2 x 18650 Batteries, 1 x 18650 Charger & 1 x Holster, then this link - MAXTOCH Sniper M24S+Battery+Charger+ Holster, Improved version of Sniper, Hidden Strobe, AR Lens, Professional Hunt Torch-in LED Flashlights from Lights & Lighting on Aliexpress.com
Mudgripz, I see you made the following comment back in 2012 under the thread "New XML Chip Hunting Lights - Some Ideas":
"ESTI do make chargers as well as Maxtochs, but you still need to get the good quality Trustfire 3000mAh 18650 batts from DX or Manafont. ESTI has batts but nowhere near as good (2200mAh)".
The above combo includes batteries but EST Group don't give the battery specs. Do your 2012 comments still apply? If they do, then I won't be choosing the combo option.
Cheers
