Inappropriate footwear in the bush will cost anyone dearly. Carrying a daybag is one thing, but trying to carry out an animal is a whole new experience in trying to balance one's body against the terrain. If one is prone to the twisting of ankles then they should strap them before leaving camp as it is too late once it happens...it can be a long wait or a long body drag to get home again. Been there, done that and learnt the lesson...I did it the hard way of limping and crawling my way home, and that lovely expensive rifle being my crutch didn't look too flash by the end of the day.
Which is worse, ignorance or apathy...I don't know and don't care.
