I have Hunters Element XTR and Rate it, has performed well for me in some real shit weather. I have full length zip but can get a pull over type as well.

Have not used for a heap of scrub bashing, held up very well so far to the abuse I have put it through though.
    Cheers

I have the h&f shearwater which has certainly kept me dry. Coped ok with the rough stuff, tho I was surprised how heavy it became in the rain. But, it worked, and I was happy. They're cheaper now and I think their new fabric might be lighter in weight.

Check out the Arc'Teryx Theta AR or SVX. Expensive (especially the SVX) but looks like a really solid option. I am going to get an AR once I scrap together the funds and hopefully find one on sale somewhere...
If it's not a first round hit you need to practice more

For hunting I would say a quality poncho, keeps you dry, your pack dry and your rifle out of the elements...can use it to build a fly or groundsheet.
One of those clear plastic toss away one's are good to have in your daybag for when caught out in the weather...you may look a dork...but a dry dork.
