The labels were all unreadable, but it dawned on me that it was probably military surplus even though it was a solid grey colour not camo .
After reading through all the suggestions here I have ordered a military surplus ( new never issued ) German Gore tex coat .
You cant buy a new gore tex coat cheaper anywhere and being German military I suspect it will be well made and designed .
Ill report back when I get it , but that will be a week or two because of Christmas .

Well @Ground Control I am glad I read the whole thread because when I read your first post, I was going to write “buy an unissued German Bundeswehr rain jacket from Army and Outdoors, or British or Austrian Army”.

I have several German and British Army Goretex and Sympatex jackets in various sizes for the whanau. They are excellent performers. Cannot fault them. I wear them over various Bundeswehr shirts or jackets depending on season. Have never gotten wet, even on long torrential quad rides back from the hunt.

Excellent choice and a fraction of the price of the posh brands, which frequently are not as effective.
