sealed lead acid from repco/SCA type stores. Look for the Amp-Hour rating. Higher = longer light. Prices from $60ish up.

None, and throw the light away that you plug into it, go and buy a maxtoch you will love it

Go to Jaycar they cost about 90$ for 17amh. We only run for 1 yr then flick them to my farmer mate for his electric fences. Can see drain on them as time goes by.My 2X is going to CHCH to get pixie dust then we are thinking of shedding weight with the 2X and 2 spare batteries.

+1 Moonhunt's comment. Basically the maxtoch's retired all our big handheld halogen and HID spotties. Standard they will comfortably match or beat Lightforce 140/170s etc, and dedomed are up near some HIDs for distance.

TeRei you'll love the 2X dedomed - serious distance when well away from city lights. About 240k lux - great fun. you'll have to do a review when you've tested it.

Standard M24 = about 90-95kcd (or lux) = 608 meters ANSI (US Standards measure of light on distant target down to equivalent of full moonlight)
    Dedomed M24 = about 200-210kcd = 900 meters ANSI

    Standard 2X = about 112-122kcd = 700+ meters ANSI.
    Dedomed 2X = about 240-250kcd = 980-1000 meters ANSI.

Note in both standard and dedomed form these lights are not pencil beams. They retain very good spill/flood as well as tight hotspot and can be used as a wide scanning spottie or rifle beam. No adjustment needed. We specifically designed them to do both jobs so you'd only need one light.

Looks like the carry bags and holsters may be all black now - evidently this is because law enforcement/police depts are all over these lights now. Aussie police into them also.

Tailcap pressure switches for M24/2X still in production, and they're also working on a new headlamp - we gave them some input but don't know about final led choice/outputs etc yet.

Good news is Maxtoch will also soon sell Panasonic 3100 batts for these XML grunters under their own black brand Maxtoch label. Becoming more of a one-stop-shop which is great.

I'd wondered if the panasonics would fit after reading a comment somewhere they were slightly larger. I'll hold off buying my batteries then and get theirs when they come up

Maxtoch logo'd panasonic 3100s now fit all new maxis lengthwise - were a tad long for earlier SN models which had to be run with tailcap on 80%.

Note: their new Maxtoch 3100s are slightly wider due to their relabelling so should only be used in the brand new torches which are made with slightly wider inner sized tubes.

For earlier maxis get yr panas from fastTech etc.
