    Reverse handle curved skinner

Got given an old wooden handled knife today.THINK they were a works knife back in the day, beautiful steel to sharpen, blade hasn't been abused....same curve as a skinner but handle is backwards to normal....were they for gutting stroke on cattle??? Or something else??? For sure I can use it as normal with funky handle but why?? Were they built like this?

Interesting, yes does make sense, but I've always seen leg cuts made body to toes not other way around....I look forward to using it and seeing if can figure it out.

Looks like a castrating knife to me.......quick anti clockwise swipe and off they come! More seriously could it be a filleting knife? Kinda looks like the right action....

Is it the of those partial tang jobs where the handle has a slot cut part way through it for the tang to sit in?

If so I reckon it's a joke knife that the handle guy in the factory made.

I've sharpened thousands of knives over 20 years and seen some really odd ones in that time but never one with the hand and blade facing the same way.

There are some pretty weird specialty knives out there though.

Looks like something made to appease the cack-handed.
