Jump to 1:08 and read the messages of what was happening. You'll probably need to pause the video occassionaly to keep up.
I would have hit the SOS way sooner (after first fall over drop and full immersion). Good lesson why a proper PLB is required that has an antenna and then hit the button when shit starts to happen and not many 'oh fu@ks, she'll be rights' later.

So some guy gets in a situation where he feels the need to activate the SOS on his INREACH but it doesn't exactly work.

How the guy got in the situation is not that important , the fact that the rescue was a co*k up IS.
I have found the INREACH slow to transmit and receive probably due to a lack of sattilites
