As required by law, the dealer will have a record of the rifle sold, so therefore will know they sold the scope with it as a package. Under the Consumer Guarantees Act the seller is required to guarantee the product is "fit for purpose" Fogging within 3 months, regardless of price, is not fit for purpose for a rifle scope. Take it back to the retailer, and they have the choice of either replacing it at their cost, repairing it at their cost within a timely manner, or refunding your money. Regardless of who the wholesaler is, or what they say, your contract is with the seller. Any decent retailer should back the products they sell. Take it back to GC, along with an EFTPOS docket if possible, or bank statement showing your EFTPOS transactions, to show the date and amount paid.
