Share you tricks and tips.........

Years ago I knew a bloke who culled goats for Doc , he traveled miles through rough terrain in all sorts of weather and conditions .
To say he travelled light was an understatement all he carried each day was a large bum bag and even then he complained about the extra weight and inconvenience .
He used to shake his head at my little backpack and say we are here to hunt not relocate to a new town .
I watch youtube vids of guys these days carrying a 70 litre pack for a day trip I cant imagine what he would say about that .
Travel as light as you can safely .

There is the odd place I hunt where I know I'm coming out with an animal or two, not doing that with a little day bag!

I know what your saying , and I agree .
I suppose what I was getting at is that there are guys carrying so much gear in their big packs during a day hunt that they would struggle to carry much meat out anyway :)
There are essentials for safety and then the basic necessities of a hunt , but after that ................

I'm a bit guilty of carrying a big pack but I love the way I can stand it on it's end and use it as a rest when there is nothing else about.

I think the single best (and cheapest!) thing I've ever done in hunting is make a DIY "Z Aim" sling.

I've just used it for three days in the bush and it was awesome.

I like the look of that, I’ve just spent a day in the bush with my thumb behind my sling trying to hold it on my shoulder

It’s one of those things that is so simple, but so damn good! Takes a little bit of time to get the lengths of webbing right, but after that, it’s good to go. One extra tip, when setting it up, do it with your backpack on.

If carrying a lighter as part of your pack, it makes the perfect spot to put a couple of metres of insulation tape. Main use is for over the end of barrel but it's. Amazing how often you use it if it's in your pocket though

Those 24mm dot stickers that make great targets for zeroing can be put on a suppressor to make it rainproof. Available in tactical black.

Before taking pics of stuff you want to sell, (or just to clean your stuff) a blob of Blu-tac takes the grit and grime out of hard to clean places... Like rear sight assemblies, safety catches, magazine release, etc. Works well on all sorts of other gear too. I learned this trick in the army... the front and rear sights of an R4 (SA copy of Galil) can be a cast-iron illegitimate child to clean. Fiddly tritium tube night sight, and the inside of the AK type action and trigger mechanism... especially after assault course, when an inspection is looming!

Put this in the bottom of your chilly bin. Stops your tomatoes or whatever disappearing in to a salt ice slurry. Can easily be cut to size.
