Yes I detest the half turn caps...I've dropped tank of fuel twice and oil three times using my wee saw.

My old 026 needs new muffler as original has big hole in her.goes like shit but man it's loud. Are the supposed genuine ones on trade me legit??? Or will I get burned again like did with bar n chain that won't fit anything at all?
Not sure that there are any new Stihl ones out there now - some of the Chinese part supply is golden but other bits need to be heavily tweaked to a) fit and b) actually work. Some of them might as well be from another saw... They generally all work to some extent in the Chinese knockoff products but when you want to replace obsolete OEM parts you're right, you need to be a little careful what you try to fit to them.
I have not used the exhaust bodies, closest I have got is a 036 exhaust cover and that did fit and work OK. The Farmertec or Huztl parts I have gotten in have all been relatively OK if a bit more cheaply finished and painted but for the cost no real arguments. If you replace four in the time of one OEM Stihl part you've still usually saved 1/2 the purchase price???

A mate had a few chains laying about so they got a good clean before sharpening and came up beautifully.

my max bar saize is 20"-as its what i feel most comfortable with and serving anything bigger costs money i aint got!
It's about 22" I think from memory.its a bar off something else I made fit and got chain made for it.
Just put the chains in a tub of hot water mixed with laundry detergent, leave them for 20-30 min and you’ll come back to a black coloured tub of water.
I then just give the chains a light scrub with a nylon brush and job done.
What are your thoughts on this?
I’m after some more chain, normally I buy 25 ft rolls to make chain out of, I have in the past just bought 3/8 0.58 gauge “standard full chisel” chain but I’m thinking of this time purchasing a roll of “full chisel skip” chain.
Just like to know what the pros and cons are versus the two types and peoples personal experiences
Usually only use full skip if the cut is really long (like 36 or more inches of cut) and you can end up jamming a lot of chip in the kerf and wasting hp trying to get rid of it out of the kerf. Full skip gives you less chip in the kerf, and the saw can keep the revs up and keep the kerf cleaner, making the cut take less time..
