Will have a look at a Silky 180 by the comments, don’t know if a Gomboy will be any good for a rough bugger like me. If you broke blades I’d be stuffed in about 10 minutes.

I’m assuming the F in F180 stands for folding?

$49 on TM @Shootm. I'm going to Bunnings to buy a Bahco folder now. Need it for this weekend

They are hard chrome plated I think?

Silky Pocketboy for tramping/hunting, fine toothed so good for bone too.
Also have the Silky Zubat and a couple of 300mm Silky Gomtaro saws in the 4wd for clearing branches off the track

Just remember they only cut on the pull and you'll be fine. Breaks happen when you try to push them through wood and the blades gets stuck...

I use a small silky, very handy and way bett than other folding saws I have usd in the past, but you need to use them properly, I don’t think the steel would be good for a knife, they use some special tempering process, plus it’s stainless so you need more specialised equipment to retemper it.
Been thinking about their BIG folding models, the katnaboy 650, I reckon it would work almost as well as my chainsaw and never need gas, so would be great for long trips, it’s not small though, not at all.

I use the Silky Pocketboy day in and day out at work. Its a great wee folding saw that fits in the pocket well and certainly out lasts the Bacho saws that we use from time to time.
The only problem is the blades can snap very easily if your not using them correctly. The blades can be replaced, comes and a couple of different sizes as well as different number of teeth for fine or coarse cutting.

The tooth technology on the likes of the Bacho is amazing - I used them heaps in the orchard - cuts vines like butter - the saw is so compact when folded
But don’t overlook some old technology in a slasher - this one is sixty years old that I know about and I can remember my Dad using it back then
I carry it in my trapping pack everywhere I go - gorse, vines, ponga ferns, bracken fern, small trees - they don’t argue with this tool - the blade shape pulls a vine towards you - I just had the original handle out and re-seated it about 25mm deeper - but might be a bit heavy for longer hunting trips

Looks similar to my bill hook that came out of the UK. Mines a bit thicker wih a straight blade on the back of it with more 'point' to the 'hook'
Was using an ex forestry service slasher the other day. When working summer job for doc at uni they were putting them in the skip

Another Fiskar or Silky or something else?
