    A new first!

Yesterday afternoon I got a txt from a hunting mate to see if I was keen to have a go at some pigeons with a couple of other members, MassiveAttack and Kaboom. Something I've never done before and the answer was a very swift "Yes" in the return txt. Good thing is that we didn't have to start too early as we didn't have so much walking and decoy set up to do; I'd had a bit of a rough night the night before.

We met up at the farm and I grabbed Massives spare layout blind and the bag of decoys and we set off to the designated spot to set up the gear and get ready. There were many of the intended quarry flying about, but mainly down a line of trees about 1km away. Still there were a few groups that flew our general direction and a couple even came within range. I managed to down three pigeons and rustle the feathers of a magpie, but unfortunately it managed to escape so remains on my to do list. My mate managed to bag a pigeon and an magpie. Only managed to find one of the three I downed. Still a nice morning for it, and another new species to the list.

Well it went homing with me in the gloaming, and I breasted it and they are sitting in the fridge. Beautiful looking meat and quite a bit of fat. So easy to pluck I wished I'd plucked and gutted it. Will find out what it tastes like tomorrow or Tuesday.
