Scaring off ducks while shooting geese

We have about 70 geese on 60 black swans and a few hundred ducks on our pond. Will shooting the geese make the others shy of the pond and stuff up opening morning

Why do they have to go now ?
Youve got a few months to go yet.Dodgy but if you get in get it done get out and then feed it up a bit ?? Get the ducks off first maybe by being a little noisy
or yelling at them then rip into geese ??. We have just had diggers in our main pond so scared off absolutely everything around the three ponds.
Will put the plug in next week and it ll fill up with ducks as usual from now on as we ll stay well away from it. If you must just get it over with fast as possible.

Scaring off ducks while shooting geese

Yeh think we will leave em well alone. Never shot geese before and got a layout blind for xmas and thought we could get a sneeky shoot in but u guys r right it will be too dodgy.
I dont shoot that pond on opening weekend but shoot it for the rest of the season. If i started feeding it up now will all that effort be wasted on others shooting it or will i get better numbers coming in after opening weekend. I dont pay for grain.

You boys have never experienced the thrill of shooting decoying geese if you are suggesting shooting them with a rifle.

It's a bit like getting a good head off a stag by throwing 1080 around the bush and then going back a week later and picking up the antlers. Sure you killed it but whats the bloody point?

It was a joke at that point MA.
He had been asked why do they have to go.
He asked how and if he should cull some off and was told too dodgy as itd disturb everything.
He d already taken the previous advice of leaving well enough alone.

Its amazing how some folks take things in the wrong context. Must remember to mark the joke comments a joke cos sometimes its
like theres just someone waiting to have a poke .... Ha ha just joking

My point exactly. Username has experienced calling and decoying geese now so he now understands the adrenalin rush and the birds circle and come in.
