    Wind driven wing spinners

Just scrolled back through 51 pages of threads....and can't see any reference to these objects of frustration. I bought two.first was also battery driven, has small wings about 4" long. Worked ok on battery but noisy.as for wind driving it.by time we have enough wind to make it spin, the plurry thing coming off pole n whitecaps on waves. Next was mojo version.i see these still for sale $99 each.wings are cocked slightly.again by time enough wind to make them spin the wave movement makes it redundant.tried all sorts to get it spinning in lighter breeze.reversed wings, lubed with every concoction known to man kind. Recently I pulled both out of shed. Drilled hole right through body of older jobbies and put wings on piece of #8 wire.well fookmesideways it works MUCH better. So pulled wings off mojo version, undid the screws holding wee plastic wing holers in place then pulled them out too.made nice straight bit of #8 long enough to thread through both wings n body of decoys.put small wood screw in the hole in wing base( previously not used) and well if we got bit more than mouse fart I would know how well it's worked now wings hooked together. Got wee gust won't the other day that set it going, leaf blower makes them spin from good distance away so HOPEFULLY it's a good work around. Will keep ya posted.

ive used old knitting needles or same sourced from$2.00shops on mine with some success .my homemade one on its first outin in an ellesmere southerly attracted a inquisitve horny mallard drake who got a terminal blow job -the decoy inapparent shock fell off the pole according to my mate "its suffered a heart attack .

a wee while ago it spent time over my mancave as my weather vane .presently both in storage as yet anothger option for my l ayouts . my DIYwings made out of 2.25litre coke bottles cut to shape and stitched together!

Well folks I can NOW say categorically that this works great. The decoy has been on pole in my vege garden for all this time and is still happily spinning away. Who said #8 wire was redundant???

    Yeah wind ones are frustrating
Either work well or don't. I placed somw big cable ties thru the coroflute and placed the decoy close to the water . Electric ones. Creates some slight ripple amd splashing.

If it will keep the effin birds off my raspberries you'd better post a pic - the little bastards seem to be able to find a way through the bird netting

I deliberately put them on that way so breeze hitting low or high gives a push every half a rotation instead of every full rotation.
