Jee wiz guys :) Get an Oirish rod and be done with it :) :) :)
Nek ting youl be arkin fr lef handerd loors :)
I just buy lefty baitcasters
Look at the Swedish-made Abu Garcia C3 series baitcasters, I have three of them. Pretty old school now, but you wouldn't believe the fish these tiny reels have caught! Available in left hand wind too. Some models are available in NZ, otherwise it's Amazon.

I have owned a couple of C3s and they do cast well but the drags are not up to the standard of the likes of the Calcutta when the heat goes on.
Is using an overhead setup for top water like using a 308 for long range? It must be similar...
I have done a lot of casting with overheads (was once a fanatical salmon surf fisherman). I have also fished with poppers and stickboats for GTs in the islands using spinning gear 6 or 7 times. While it is nice to use over head gear, in windy conditions with swell mixed in an eggbeater shines because lures that are not aerodynamic and/or front-weighted and are affected by and tumble in the wind in flight are a bugger to cast with an overhead particularly if you are in a rocking rolling boat. Also birds nests with braid can be a shit to unravel. Not saying it can't be done but if you go to serious popping/stick baiting forums you will see very few of the super keen guys using overheads, they almost exclusively use eyewateringly expensive japanese spinning rods and high end eggbeaters like Stellas.
The new thing now is very small stripper rings as it is less casting friction to just pull all that looping line in on the first ring instead of gradually over multiple rings dropping in size.
Old school vs new.
