Had a quick poke around for some Koi in some new spots I'd had on my ''to-do'' list of places to explore.

Not much rain of late and the river levels were very low...but still worth a look and some good sized Koi were soon in the bucket in no time flat. Soon had 14 koi and 1 Mullet (and that's not not my hair cut either).

Some friendly Asian men were trying their luck at fishing them on rods. I met them 2 weeks ago and they had been trying to land a fish for ages, but had no luck. Two weeks later they still hadn't caught any - so I offered them some of ours which they gratefully excepted. Against my advice though they were fishing for the pot, where as I do it for fun and for burely bait for fishing. If I see them again I might offer to take them out in the boat after some salt water fish as I kind of feel guilty that they are not sampling the best of NZ eating koi?
