I’ve got one and the same transducer. For general navigation and marking spots they are pretty good.

If you’re expecting to do any deepwater fishing or want to see beyond 150m with any certainty, then keep looking. You want at least a 1kw transducer and compatible unit.

Yea I figured it won't be much use in the deeper water which is fine, only a smaller boat anyway so will just fish blind if I get a mint day and head out a bit deeper. How do you find the touchscreen with wet fingers? The reading I've done suggests they are pretty good.

I haven't found a reason not to like it yet - they seem pretty good and mine does everything I want with the exception of deep water.

I'm trying to find a way to write this on the forum without it sounding creepy - here goes, your welcome to come and have a play with mine if you want.

Garmin update the software for the Ecomap and probably others models via their active captain phone app you get the updates sent to the app and the phone will sync with your plotter and upload software to the plotter. There is an update in the app now which I will upload when I am next in Marlborough where the boat is. Last update made a noticeable improvement in the sounder performance while underway at speed so the updates are worthwhile.

Syncing automatically with phone the plotter shows when I get txts emails or news updates. Kinda handy but sometimes u just want to get away from the world.

Yeah mate … great point …. But the ease in updates etc etc make it a great deal for tricky situations….once u master it ,zit has so many options depending on who you have as a provider… I’ve been involved in one SOS call MOB,(man over board) and recieved info I passed onto the coast guard…

I purchased that model because of it attributes(active captain etc)and paid the extra for piece of mind.. I admit they are a little spendy ,but I’m on the water just about very week… no complaints…

Haha all good mate, cheers for the offer, I will just order one, reviews are pretty good and money saved can go on other bits and pieces.
