    look on rod itself...it will have a AFTMA rating...possibly 6/7 or 8/9 that tells you what weight of line you need....never seen need for super expensive reel..trademe will have plenty cheap enough...there is also plenty of cheap lines on there as well....... no reason to break the bank to get started...
