    Leaky waders

So i finally got out to Coleridge for my first fish of the season and to try out my new (pre loved) Simms waders, usual happened, No fish, got SOAKED, didn’t give any lures to the lure gods which was a pleasant surprise, I really dont know what im doing(par the course) and yup, i got me a leaky crotch (and not due to age just yet!)

They look in good condition i can only assume there is a leaky seam somewhere, is there anywhere in CHCH that anyone would recommend for repairs? Re seaming?

    Cheers

If they're Sims waders, then am assuming waterproof/breathable. If thats the case, then there probably isn't any wader repairer type person around that can do the job. But you could try one of the clothing/equipment manufacturers in ChCh that use a seam sealer and ask if they could give it a go.

Or you can buy a pkt of either Aquaseal or Stormsure from a camping type shop, not H&F!, and use that to seal it up. Works great and remains flexible. Sticks like the proverbial. To find the actual leak I think you use rubbing alcohol, as opposed to a good Jameson's, and rub it on the outside. Will evaporate off the outside but will leave a slight mark on the inside. When you find the spot or spots, mark them with a Sharpie so you dont loose them. Then apply a nice coating of Stormsure on the inside and let it dry.

Fill them with water is the best way to find out where they are leaking.

Find the hole buy a tube of aquaseal+NEO, the other patch kit I've got is Dryline it comes with a couple of patches.
As it turns out just giving mine a go over! as I have a small leak when I last used them.
Dog should do most of the ducks, but sometimes have to cross the creek and I like dry feet all day.
Dad was notorious for falling in and getting wet, even swam to the other side of the pond shotgun above his head and paddling one arm in waders.
It would always come up in the story time the night before opening.
    Somethings you remember.

Amendment to the post on Aquaseal as I have both products, I think this is the better Aquaseal+FD for rubber it's clear as well.
and for neoprene the Dryline kit is the way to go, although I use the Aquaseal on them as well.

+1 for the aquaseal, use a disposable latex glove to apply. Seam sealed my old Simms waders up both legs to the top in the end, was always the seams that leaked. Light blue jeans on inside the waders was another good way to find the leak, read somewhere not to fill breathables with water??
