    Rangitikei River head mission.

After some information regarding the Rangitikei river, specifically in regards to fishing the upper river in the designated waters for an upcoming trip I have planned. Would love to talk to someone who has hiked up to the heads from the bridge ideally or someone with good knowledge of the area to provide some insight, cheers. Also if anyone has any contacts with someone on the Springvale station that would be absolutely fabulous thanks.

You can't hike up from the bridge to the headwaters. Both sides are private land that's guarded jealously. But the important part is that its horribly gorgey for most of that distance. A determined mountaineer could do it in a week. Probably. People find it far far easier to come on over Thunderbolt to the headwaters (1.5 days for a fit person) fish there for a day or so then pack raft out...or turn around and climb back out over Thunderbolt. Or fly in.

    Correct about all of that.
I have done a fair bit of fencing on springvale and know that part of the river quite well.
We used to stay at the huts that they used for fish counting back in the day .
My favorite river to be fair.
