Cape palliser paper road to the stonewall

Access around passed the lighthouse is likely to be locked up. Another beautiful spot will likely be gone if the swdc has its way. Maybe a case of a few fu#king it for everyone else. Have your say and help keep it open.

Can thank all the dickheads that destroy that road with their 4x4s and shoot livestock on that track

ohhhh dear horse likely bolted but there is a way if you can get organized -- you need to prove usage and over a period of years and you are responsible - form a group call yourself something like friends of Cape Palliser you need members at least 20-30 - you will help with track maintenance- and patrol track when open - just individuals writing in will not cut the mustard - Iwi and Land Owners and DOC you are up against it - as a group you may be able to get it open for group events - good luck its not easy but it can be done

" While the unformed paper road passes through private land and Crown land, and leads to a dead end, it continues to be accessed by members of the public. "

NO!!! It doesn't pass through private land and Crown land. Its a public road. Private and Crown land lies on either side of a legal road!

If hoons do burnouts on tar seal highways, do they close SH1 because of that??? No, they carry out enforcement action...if they can get off their arses and do something about it.

Road stopping is a blunt instrument that councils use cause they are too lazy to do enforcement action.

Notice that Government departments and landowners will still be able to use the road.

Its the thin end of the wedge.

That their stopping ALL Public access on a legal public road tells you who's pushing this.
The justifications are dubious at best.
And the description of the road is at best faulty.
I note that they Now threaten enforcement action if their bylaw is ignored.
Where were they when Landowners were having their "quiet enjoyment" disrupted.
As a landowner adjoining a Council Road , I note our council has never offered us "quiet enjoyment"

Well if the proposal is as the notice reads I’d expect WAC and FMC to be up on their hind legs about it?

Restricting pedestrian access to a legal road?

Hope you dont mind Mr XR, but I used this as a basis for my submission. They will think I was rather clever.

That was the basis of my submission regarding the proposed road stopping in the south eastern Ruahines. It was the second time the district council (and farmer) had attempted to stop the road, and was the second time it failed, due to overwhelming public submissions.

You know you’re up against it when they’re quoting fires from 35 years ago to add weight to its closure

And the change in terminology, omitting the term 'legal' in the 'Unformed Legal road' description which is the proper legal term and instead calling it a 'unformed paper road'. Its an ULR or a 'paper road'. Not a mishmash of the two.

Oh, and it was the South Western Ruahines I was referring to, not SE.
