Where's the dislike button? They're done themselves proud. Awesome effort.
Only 1 team completing the entire Pure course.....well that is expected to finish the course. They've not completed yet. Anything could happen. I doubt weather will close the remaining section of course to RAB given where it goes, but it could. Mistletoe to Picton can get pretty rough in a kayak

What a shame ah, hope they are ok !
No doubt they are gutted but they can certainly hold their heads high. Hell of an effort !!

    Damn that's a real shame.

Weather out here has eased a lot, my friends just got 4 big hot chocolates into team 59 so that should hopefully give them a decent boost

You won't believe how much the teams value and remember random roadside support and encouragement. When I did GZ we were a few hours into a MTB and about 10:30pm on a gravel road in a remote valley we saw a picnic table beside road with a red/white checker table cloth and Welcome GZers sign. On it was a big pump flask of hot chocolate and muffins in a tupperware box. As we were rejoycing voices came out of the dark way above us shouting you're welcome etc. They'd been watching trackers and supporting each team as it came through. I'll always remember those few minutes of warm drink, muffins and shouted chatter. We then rode on and on and on..... Eventually after riding up Takaha hill and down Rameka track got to Totaranui. Can't remember how.
Simialr joy at grapes in a box on footpath in Murchison after rafting, and on another MTB a box of apples somewhere. It's the simple things that bring joy in moments like those :-)

Sounds like Fear youth are all good so that's great news.

I see those teams are heading over the road towards Waitaria bay so Mt Stokes is out.

I wonder if they will start kayaking from there?

Given it's almost 6 days and Mt Stokes takes many hours it'd makes sense to restart at T8. I assume it'll be sheltered enough tight in to kayak to Te Mahia. From then on unsure how water would be.

Or they hold everyone at T8 and have a mass restart tomorrow morning. That's what I'm picking. Better for all and they can use checked in times to award places to the few ranked teams.

Sounds like the race will be resuming at 5.45am. A sprint to the finish

Go the mot high crew !

I bet when they started this they wouldn't have thought they would be competing for third on the last day
