One of our kids recently did a tandem jump with the guys based at the Mot. Aerodrome. She loved it. Good instructors. She wasn't 100 percent certain before hand, but after the video and quick lessons she was as keen as mustard. Wants to go again. Buzzed for days

Ok, if it is going to be a Tandem, chose a nice clear day if possible, and do it over Queenstown in South Island or Taupo on the north island. The jump will more likely be recorded on video and the surrounding is really awesome. Also the bigger drop zone tend to have bigger plane that can drop you from a higher altitude (13000 ft instead of 10000) and more free fall time for your money.
I have jumped in a few places over the world( UK ,France, Florida, South Dakota, NZ) and nice surrounding is definitely adding to the whole experience .

Mate did one out of Queenstown for his stag do and had a good buzz, tandem guide let him steer for a bit and bent a few rules. Was awesome watching the experience guys coming in to land pretty bloody fast. Bit of excitement when one punter fainted and the guide had to be real careful on landing, she came round once Terra firma was reached

I work as tandem instructor at Skydive Paradise in Glenorchy(40 minutes out of Queenstown) I have skydive over NZ from Kerikeri to TeAnau( haven't skydive the west coast yet), been doing it over 11 years and wherever you jump it will be amazing. Glenorchy is a very special place to me and however I am suspect in say it it is better than queenstown.

Call in for a chat, a coffe and a skydive if you wish.

    Good luck!

If you just want to be able to say "Yea iv jumped out of a plane" then perfect.
The "drogue" has a reason and that reduce the velocity to a suitable one and then save your life during the opening, yes you are restricted to "fewer" movements but it is 100% more than your "static line" or first AFF(accelerated free fall), static line you have no more than 5 seconds till your parachute fully open and in the AFF case however you have the 30 seconds Freefall you will be full time supervised by two instructors.

That is because they are at sea level, we do 15000 over my way and it is same as 16000 over there...

So how high until you need breathing apparatus for a jump?

@Pengy I have been writing about a lot things related to skydiving and "preaching" about my place of work but not me or anyone have asked you what/where is your actuall destination?

Places to skydive that I recommend "after mine":

North of SI, Skydive Abel Tasman - Motueka

West Coast, Skydive Fox Glacier - Fox Glacier

East Coast, Skydive Kiwis - Ashburton

Southern Lakes(queenstown and Wanaka) my first pick my drop zone, Skydive Paradise in Glenorchy, 40 min out of Queenstown, second NZONE skydive in Queenstown then Skydive Wanaka.

So, these are my "professional" personal indication. I hope I am/was of some help.

    Cheers

    Excellent stuff, thanks Mac.
I am based in Nelson, so the Motueka jump is the handiest. Having said that, as it is to be part of my nephews big adventure, I am not restricting plans to my local area. I think he is already booked on a helibiking trip out of Wanaka.
