    the last roar my Dad hunted in there. Dad ,Phil,Ivan and Ron I think were in there all experienced hunters and with all the chopper activity they never saw a deer let alone shot one....that wouldve been late 70s....
    its had a few green rains over the years which keeps numbers low.

    Ive never pulled anything out of there Whirinaki yes which is slightly further in. The Ridge track is a serious challenge with an animal on your back got out of there at 11pm on a Sunday night with a three hour drive and work the next day noy so young but silly

    Have never gone in from the Plateau, used to climb over from below the old South Waipunga hut. Area a bit like Te Hoe, a good climb out.

    Glad to see it's still there. Haven't been through there for about 35 years. We used to do the track & hut maintainence.
    Is the bivy on the ridge between the pine & Matuk still there ?

    Be careful driving into the old Saddle Hut track, it's a bit treacherous to say the least...
