So here's a funny gold story.

Another forum member and I had put a bit of material through my high banker between hunts on the Westcoast.
We had a small potties of super concentrats in the truck.

One night there was a retired couple share the cottage with us who were on a road trip looking for gold.
They had every gadget there was.
He pulled out a gold wheel to clean a tablespoon of concentrates and got a few colours in his pottle.

His wife ( who clearly wasn't hooked on gold prospecting ) asked me how I cleaned my gold.

We were half pissed from memory and I was enjoying seeing all this guys gear.

I had a huge sheet of white paper I carry rolled up inside my Fishing rod tube.
Laid it out on the table.
Pour the dry gold and some iron and garnets in a white gentlely curved Asian style bowl.
And gently blow is small puffs and you can see the iron going over the edge but the gold goes back down inside.
Move it around and get just the right amount of blow that no gold goes over the top.
But the white paper shows if you are blowing to hard.

Anyway I was just being a show off really that you didn't need a $1000 gold wheel and a bowl and white paper did a good job anyway.

I'm pretty sure he got a fair bit of shit from his wife on the rest of that trip.

The lesson in this is gimmicks won't get you gold.
Some really basic gear and a lot of hard work will though

It's a great pass time when you hunt early and late.
Fills I some time and is a good social activity
