Not in the least bit surprising either.
Thanks for posting. Good video.
Watched that myself earlier. Staggering numbers he gave. 700 million extra rounds if all the new shooters bought two boxes plus all the extra ammo everyone else will be hoarding you can understand why places like little ole nz are struggling to get any for the shelves.
And our problem will be, if it is not yet now, the difficulty in getting what is in excess of the USA home needs to Middle Earth.
30-06?
There are other international producers. Trouble is though is that they are geared towards serving a certain market or producing a certain amount of quantities. It's a big investment for any non-USA commercial enterprise to try and take up any shortfall for what would only be short-term gain.
Why you always own at least one 308
There will always be 308 ammo everyone makes it.

Time to start an ammo company in NZ
Where have you been for the last 57 years?:D https://tinyurl.com/y9hc3b8s
We do have one, admittedly not producing an across across the board range of ammunition and it can be affected by a shortage or lack of raw materials, but I am sure they hold adequate and suitable stocks of product and raw materials to carry them through unexpected but not prolonged "blockages."
Well done you. Keep up the efforts and build up your stocks while you are able to and you will soon reach the stage where your "armoury" will provide reassurance and the ability to carry you through a "crisis." .
.22 rimfire is the only one of the seven calibers I use which I do not reload but I have adequate stocks of it and adequate stocks of components for the other six.
I lived in Missouri for 3 years and it’s bizarre. Democrat government - buy more guns and ammo. Trade difficulties with China - buy more guns and ammo, Covid - buy more guns and ammo.
It’s an incredibly paranoid society. To illustrate the point, I worked with a very nice bloke over there who owned 16 rifles, pistols and shotguns. He had 5000 rounds per weapon and had been buying his stash for years. He was mostly concerned about the government coming for his guns, but Russian and Chinese invasion, home invasion and zombies were all on his mind. The NRA stokes these insecurities, but it’s in the national psyche.
What it means is that every time almost anything significant happens they buy guns, ammo and components. That means there’s nothing left for the rest of us. That then causes stockpiling when anything does reach us, which makes it worse still.
Hornady put out a similar video too.
I went to a gun store for the first time in months just for a bit of fun yesterday. They had lots of hunting rifles but limited amounts of AR type rifles. They also had a Grand Power Stribog and CZ Scorpion I wouldn't mind owning. Plenty of pistols on offer. But very little ammo or reloading supplies. They had an OK stock of hunting ammo but almost nothing else, nothing ordinary like 5.56 or 9mm or 357 Magnum or whatever. Plenty of magazines too. So kinda weird, there were plenty of guns but not a lot of ammo for them. I'd imagine the gun store is in a tough spot because for new gun owners you could buy that Stribog or a Glock but not have any ammo for it, so it's a paperweight or wall hanger.
I think that's why the left's next angle of attack will be ammo or reloading supplies. Oh you wanna have that AR-15, sure, your 2nd Amendment right yeah whatever, but we'll restrict or tax your ammo so much you can't shoot it. The obama administration tried going after ammo with limited success. They did get some types of 5.45x39 banned from import.
In regards to paranoia I saw mentioned, Americans are well aware of world history and the many tens of millions killed by totalitarian regimes in the past 120 years, so we know the score and we know the marxists/totalitarian/great reset crowd very much has plans and designs on moving forward with their schemes for power and control.
For me, well I learned my lesson during the last big run on everything, so not only did I buy a ton of factory ammo but also went from nothing to 3 reloading presses with plenty of supplies on the shelf.
Thanks for proving my point perfectly.
It's not your point. It's your perspective.
He has rights.
As a New Zealander, you have none. Only privileges. We can only hope people will be kind to us. It's not a given. There is nothing stopping anyone from stripping you of your freedom and resources.
England could sell you to China in a post Brexit trade deal. Wouldn't be a damn thing you could do about it.

Im thinking NZ has much worse to come. Surely our supply has some lag from USA. We place orders and have shipments coming and existing supply in wholesalers. We are already having projectile and some ammo problems. As manufactures struggle to supply domestic and larger markets, NZ will be way down the priority list.
No, it's a fragmented society. One that is divided between a confident and patriotic element element that is unwavering from the founding principles of that country, against those, bereft of historical knowledge and enabled by the gains of the system that they seek to overthrow because frankly, Western Society has become too soft.
Get with the times dude...the dangly bits have no bearing on anything nowadays except something to hold on to when peeing.....
Apparently 'they' want the population feminised as it's easier to control and less chance of rebellion/uprising....
They have obviously not met my missus...
Just to give some perspective o the American situation, look at these and also check out the price of pistol ammuniton

To be fair they are right to be paranoid, just look at what NZ, Canada, Australia and the UK have done, the first sniff of an opportunity to remove guns from their populations they will.
The saying "Give and inch and they'll take a mile" is completely true, if the American gun owners had faith that their Government wasn't going to try shaft them at every opportunity they would likely stop the paranoia.
Unfortunately they are all looking at what happened here and in Canada and can see that despite the system failing and causing the death of countless people, rather than accept responsibility the Police and Politicians will just scape goat the firearms community.
They know full well the Democratic party will do exactly the same.
Biden has already said that he is going to take all the 'assault rifles' .
Good luck with that....
Yes well he's not the sharpest tool in the shed is he ... And he was talking about ar's , ak's etc...
And when you think about 7 million new firearms in circulation just recently and add those to all the pre- existing numbers then really I think that horse has already bolted.....if the population turned round and told him where to put his buy back there would be f-all the police could do about it now , waaaay to outgunned.
New Zealand is a small and a long way from any major problems since colonisation, we have relatively low crime. We simply haven't/don't needed to defend ourselves so it's not part of our national psyche.
The Germans laid a few mines in WW1 the Japanese flew over in WW2 for a look.
We simply don't understand.
The fact that we've arrived at this point is telling.
We used to engage in same activities as our elders did. People used to write to gift givers after Christmas to show their appreciation. Engagement in shooting activities was the norm, not the exception. Now the shoe is on the other foot. How did it get here?
OH BTW I remember someone here stating that double barrel shotguns were not a military weapon? Well they may not have been designed as one but they were certainly the "AK" used by the local resistance.

Technology I think.,.
Cell phones in particular , computer games , social media etc.
'entertainment' at your fingertips. No need to go outside and play anymore. Who wants to shoot rabbits with a 22 when you can assault a compound with grenades and an M60 from the comfort of the sofa with your mates who are on their sofa assaulting the same compound and chatting with you through the interwebs.
And with social media being the perfect platform for constant brainwashing from all and sundry telling you how terrible it was with your father/grandfather murdering animals for food and so on....
Nothing to do with technology, its urbanization.
Most people are so far removed from rural life that they have little to no understanding of life outside the city.
You don't need to talk for very long to realize just how different folk who spend all their time in the city are.
It's not that their life is wrong but unfortunately they get to vote on how life is done in the rural sector despite knowing nothing about it other than the crap they are feed by stuff and green peace.
Fortunately the founding fathers in America saw that happening to some degree and created the electoral college.
We're not dumb, as you say we see what goes on elsewhere. New Zealand certainly changed for the worse. Americans compromised on some big gun bills in the past, the 1934 NFA, the 1968 GCA, the 1989 AWB and the 1994 AWB. So the funny thing is as soon as those compromises happen, the left is almost immediately pushing for more and more. During the past 10 years they have tried to sneak in things through passing regulations and making up stuff as we just went through this past month with pistol braces.
The left just never stops or leaves the gun issue alone. There is nothing that will satisfy them unless they have all power and control.
Look at your own country now, more talk of buybacks and more gun laws. The left will not stop. We have to fight for our rights or we will not have them.
