    Auckland Rifle Ranges (Where?)

Hi folks, new here and been searching into the abyss, but still can't find anything.

I'm looking for a rifle range(s) in the Auckland city area. I have searched the interwebs, but have only come up with sport shooting ranges. I'm only wanting to shoot my .22LR rifles atm, just to test them out some of them I've never shot (I hunt so new to ranges).

I know of some ranges out in the bush and quite far out of the city that the distance is just impossible for me to travel to shoot a small bore firearm. I just want to sight and and shoot some guns in a range environment, but seems like an absolute mission.

Truly appreciate any input, as I'm at a loss at the moment.

NZDA range out by the Riverhead forest.
It takes 43 muscle's to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger pull.
What more do we need? If we are above ground and breathing the rest is up to us!
Rule 1: Treat every firearm as loaded
Rule 2: Always point firearms in a safe direction
Rule 3: Load a firearm only when ready to fire
Rule 4: Identify your target beyond all doubt
Rule 5: Check your firing zone
Rule 6: Store firearms and ammunition safely
Rule 7: Avoid alcohol and drugs when handling firearms

    Howick Small bore
    Manukau also shoot at Howick
    Birkenhead small bore
There is one out West too. Prob called Waitakere small bore.

Give Serious Shooters or Reloaders a call, they have a list of small bore and pistol clubs.

Youthtown is still shut to shooters due to lead contamination (crappy air con), but they were rip off bastards anyway. $300 for annual membership.
    Welcome to Sako club.

+1 for Howick for 22. It's a 25 yard indoor range, clubs like Manukau Sporting Rifle club
    Manukau Sporting Rifle Club

allow walks ins, etc. Plus it's covered :-)

Riverhead is good for 25m and 100m but public access is always a challenge as it also supports club and competition shooting for NZDA.

Taupos good and only 4 hours away, about the same as to get from Mt Wellington to Kumeu, in peak traffic, except faster!

Are you Central Auckland?, PM me your cell # and I can give you the info for Waiku Pistol Club. Has 1 CF range out to 100, , a RF range out to 100, and shorter ranges for pistol. Butts / benches are covered.

Riverhead is also good as it has a 50m, which is ideal for .22's. Can be crazy busy at times though. I've found that the afternoon sessions are usually a bit quieter

Theres the Clevdon NRA club, but they only meet in summer, and the service rifle club meet at the same range in the summer, but shoot at lots of different places over winter.
