    Dannevirke NZDA Field Shoot

Dannevirke NZDA branch (through Neckshot) hosted a center fire field shoot today. We had awesome weather after a couple of rain showers early in the morning.

Malcolm and I set a relatively easy course with a few challenging positions as well. Was a good day though. Was great to meet a few new people and have some fun shooting.

And a video from the same stage. Scott shows some great supported kneeling shooting technique here.

I'll sort out some more pictures and video tomorrow evening.

Excellent stuff. Great shooting in the video.
It takes 43 muscle's to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger pull.

    Dannevirke NZDA Field Shoot

Ok so i have gone over the videos and a few photos.

    Position 1.
    No time limit.
First shot at a 10" target at 116m, if the first shot hits, fire the second shot at the 6" target at the same location. If the first shot misses fire the second shot at the 10" target.
5 points per hit, 2 shots.

    Position 2.
    40 second time limit.
Competitor starts standing three shots in the magazine. At the begining of the time limit the competitor shall move forward to the shoot location. The competitor shall fire the first shot at the left hand 10" target (107m), their second shot at the right hand 10" target (101m) and their third shot at the left hand 10" target again.
5 points per hit. You had to shoot kneeling really.

    Position 3.
    30 second time limit.
Competitor starts standing three shots in the magazine. At the begining of the time limit the competitor shall move forward to the shoot location. The competitor shall fire the first shot at the lower 6" target (98m), their second shot at the middle 10" target (100m) and their third shot at the upper 6" target (108m)
5 points per hit. Most either shot kneeling supported off the post or prone through a thistle.

    Position 4.
    12 second time limit.
Competitor starts standing three shots in the magazine. At the begining of the time limit the competitor fires their first shot at the left hand 10" target. The competitor must move to shoot the middle 10" target and then can fire their third shot at the right hand 10" target. All targets were about 20m away.
5 points per hit. You had to shoot standing to see the targets.

Position 5 - mad minute (kindov)
    45 second time limit.
Competitor starts standing with 5 shots in their mag (if they could, bolt had to be open). At the begining of the time limit the competitor had two 6" targets (94m & 150m) and three 10" targets (133m, 166m, 191m) to fire one shot each at.
    5 points per hit.

    Position 6.
    60 second time limit.
Competitor starts standing with 4 shots in in their mag (if they could, bolt had to be open). At the begining of the time limit the competitor had to fire their first shot at a 14" target. If hit they would fire the second shot at a 10" target, if hit they would fire the third shot at a 6" target, if hit they would fire their last shot at the 6" target again. A miss would require the competitor to fire the next shot at the larger sized target.
    5 points per hit.

Late lunch BBQ to finish!!! Was a great day and i learnt some things with the camera i hope will improve my shooting event photography.

New Plymouth field shoot this coming weekend. Should be a good event to, weathers looking good at this stage. A couple of spots open if someone wants to come along.

    Nah, its easy as, bro.

Just need a reliable rifle, sighted in, and that you are familar with. After that its just a matter of ignoring the time limits, applying some fundamentals and HAVING FUN!!!!
It is awesome practice for hunting. The best form of practice i have found.

The winner on the day is shooting in the last video above. Those were the only two targets he missed.

Awesome Neckshot, have done a bit of work on the Dannevirke Biathlon event. Sent you a shoot description for it. Should be a fun event. A fair amount of set up invovled but i think we'll be able to pull it off quite well.

Also working on the Rotorua Long Range event. That event is by invitation only and i am already getting invite requests even though i haven't even officially set the date yet! Will be limited entries to the Rotorua event. As invited spots get declined i will open those spots up for other people.

Not many at all, should have tightened up the time limit!

By all my thinking someone with an AR (or any semiauto) that is sighted in and can shoot minute of deer to 300m should clean up in one of these shoots... hasn't happened yet though, maybe that has something to do with the shooter?

    Funny that

Maybe should allow gillie suits, face paint and play a bit of Wagner soundtrack for the next one, should improve their scores

Me and my 1950's single shot Omark 44 would be keen as well...
