And it was just nice shooting a low-recoil rifle again; I see no point in using my 6.5 PRC anymore - the the point it's no longer scoped.

According to the Norwegian importers, new rifle sales caliber 243 is next to nil these days and lately I've been to shops that simply doesn't stock 243 anymore. I managed to get my hands on Federal Premium 85gr Trophy copper and Federal Premium 95 gr Nosler Ballistic Tip; didn't go to well. I can also send for the Hornady 90 CX (copper) and Hornady 90 ELD X (bonded lead) which I think I'll do. I have to order more Barnes bullets anyway.

Bullet selection for reloading is no problem, but I kinda wanted to avoid that.

6 Creedmoor was also considered, but my gunsmith didn't have the tools and only a limited stock of factory ammo available.
Gimp shoots a 6 GT and it's more in line with what I want (little powder, lower noise in silencer, low recoil and sufficient punch) but the logistics behind that was plain expensive.
Similarly I now find the larger calibers obnoxious to shoot and in any event unnecessary on deer. It seems to reflect a sea change that is occurring. Only sentiment saves my bigger calibers from a cull. My 257R Kimber is hanging in there and is as big as I need - like the .243/6mmCreed for others.
My .223's and 22 Creed hold a special place.
ANTSMAN, BRADS and Shearer like this.
Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing, and right-doing, there is a field. I will meet you there.
