50BMGs are fun, just a bit expensive to run.
If I were to get another I'll go Truvelo CMS once more.
I shot a desert tech , and a Barrett single shot ( under 10kg) both very lightweight. You can feel the shockwave traveling through your body .
Normally when we fired it from the shooting benches, we'd clean the neighbouring tables with the blast
My father used to regale us of storys of training with the Boyes anti tank rifle WW2 the Seargent had to order them to fire it at training - no one would volunteer- they were shit scared of it - he said it was not much use on German tanks - but really scared the German truck drivers - must have been similar to a 50 cal ?? some one on here will know
Despite its recoil slide and rubber-cushioned buttpad, the recoil of the weapon (along with noise and muzzle blast) was said to be painful, frequently causing neck strains and bruised shoulders. Consequently, the Boys was almost never fired as a free weapon (that is, not affixed to a support) except in emergencies.
55 Boyes. Would love to own one.
Worked best if mounted on the heavy tripod that was issued with them.
I thought 50BMG was basically unable to be shot on ranges that are open to the public. I know that NZDA ranges are certified for 8mm only with 338 being limited to only a few rounds fired.
certainly very expensive to shoot and own
