    Got Wind??

There is this wonderful old book published in 1972 by Matt & Bruce Grant called "The Sharp Shooter". I'm fortunate to have a first edition.

I've been re-familiarising myself with it's musty old pages, and came upon this, which I still use as a guide even today (I will risk being sued by the publishers')

I have always remembered "strong breeze, 10mph", and based my rather rough judgements around that, and build the 10mph into my ballistic charts. I limit myself to under 500 yards though, which I strictly adhere to no matter the calibre.

Wind is my enemy, after having a cock up or two basically unless it is very calm I wont attempt a longer range shot on an animal.
Wind reading and compensation requires practice and have I neither the time nor place to do it.
    Grunta and Munsey like this.
"Hunting and fishing" fucking over licenced firearms owners since ages ago.

@Tahr wot a bloody coincidence. Today I actually purchased (via Antique Arms Assoc) 2 books from the estate of Bruce Grant. Then you start your thread and I thinks who is this Bruce Grant? So I Googled Matt & Bruce Grant and lo and behold I ended up at Tardme and there is a copy of your book. I now own it for $18. Thanks for your posting mate.

No the word for that is "prime". You're mixing it up with pre 1960...
