Animals can and do get wounded at any range. Whatever your self imposed maximum range, unless you practice positional shooting out to this range the chances are better than even that you’ll wound an animal somewhere along the line. When you do wound one, own it and follow up on animal. You were going to have to go to the spot to recover said animal anyway. Even culling you confirm kills/misses if at all possible. Unless you’re well practiced and diligent at reading wind, especially across gullies etc, taking shots at 600+ m/yds you are entering the realm of lottery shots. Just my perspective from a hunting/ target shooting and professional background.
