I dont think multigun is something you want any noobs doing that turn up to the range to have a look. You have to have your wits about you and i reckon it appeals to those already relatively competant with ipsc or 3gun in its base format.
You dont drop your rifle while slung after already shooting it and transition to pistol or whatever. Big danger of breaking the 180 with a potentialy loaded, out of control and unsafe gun hanging off your body. We dont holster a pistol after its been used, it goes on the table in either a chamber empty or chamber loaded, safety on condition, this goes for all firearm types, when you are using 3 guns in one stage and 2 of them are going to be shot and then abandoned then safety comes first!!!! Just remember that the guns are not cleared until after the stage is finished. You dont want firearms hanging off your body like fucking rambo, especialy after its been used, we as RO's can only do so much to ensure everythings safe during a stage. That is why they are put in a bin or on a table out of reach after use.
I love multigun, we do alot of it, but i can see the potential for fuck ups if its not run correctly and well policed to some extent.
As for problem solving.. well youve never shot a decent multigun/ipsc match in your life or you wouldnt have mentioned such a thing. No shooters at our matches rarely shoot the stage the same. Some that are weak in shotgun will use the pistol to clean up plates and those strong in rifle may use that to clean up the pistol/rifle targets.
Multigun is a thinking game on multiple levels.
