Ok so the Norinco Ammo is out. What is the Romanian Milsurp stuff from Aoraki Ammo like? May have got my mitts on a case.

I used to deal with these guys, they always had sheeeeeit loads of 7.62x39 and deal directly with Kalashnikov, Just wondering if anyone has tried them, or are they also out completely? id be very surprised. BARNAUL - Home

NZ regularly imports ammo from overseas in shipping containers, both for sporting use and our military. Its routine. There is no restriction on their movement, and you don't need special "DG ships" either. Normal haz things apply only, as to separation on ships and licensed carriers (trucks -that's most of them) with standard DG paperwork. I doubt that Australian ports dont let them call there, they are in the business or working ships, and no one cares if the containers are staying on board the ship and going to NZ - if its not coming off the ship there, then its not entering Australia.

Put it this way, I have heard the same argument from people about ADI powders not getting through to the USA, because NZ ports wont let them dock there on the way - which is rubbish.

I could check with Australia there is some fascist sanction that the Aussies have against the Chinese ammo transiting their ports, you know what they are like about hating Asians. But in any event I could come up with a number of way getting a container here that doesn't need to call in Australia on the way from China.

There is no special sea transport reason why you couldn't import a container of ammunition into NZ from China. If anyone wants to buy a container load from Norinco, I will help you organise the shipping.

A cursory look through the Dept of Foreign Affairs does not indicate that military rifle ammunition is on their strategic good list so without considering it further it may only be a matter of getting a normal import permit.

I might investigate this matter just for the hell of it. (Of course as soon as I ask a question about Chinese ammunition, I will never get a visa for the US ever again.)

I do wounder how much is excuses by the small number who do import ammo to keep supplies down. A flood of cheap norinco wont be popular with established importers.
