Having recently started shooting a series of much lighter rifles than I'd previously been accustomed, I found my shooting technique sadly lacking, wether shooting from bench with rest or prone etc.
After a bit I revisited @Norway s videos on long range shooting and cottoned on to what I call his "Three finger technique " - apologies Thomas for the kiwi style "bastardisation" of you IP.
Anyhoo a gross simplification this is to focus on trigger finger placement, then on the Three fingers of your right hand on the pistol grip for consistent hold to you shoulder at natural point of aim. You HAVE to watch his videos carefully more than once to get a full appreciation of the subtlety of this.
Ant the results . . . Well yesterday arvo at the range there were a lot of interruptions and people wanting this and that. I was testing factory ammos but the people wanted to borrow my benchrest "front rest" . . . So I changed to bipod. The following group was shot from the bench off the bipod
And a bit later I got my front rest back and shot this
It's important because not only is the group size very similar, so to is the point of impact. Heavy rifles are very forgiving of this, light ones not so much!
