    ''Poor mans'' zero stop

A zero stop would be great, but most scopes that offer it as a feature are too big and heavy (or expensive) for me to personally want on my own hunting rifle.

I have lost animals due to inexperience (loosing track of my rotations), a zero stop would have redeemed this situation...but instead I've had to remove the bolt and bore-sight it to get it back on zero again.

So this is the next best thing:

So the sticker (label maker) indicates how far I have to turn the turret (anticlockwise) back from a hard stop if I wind it all the way in (clockwise). The dial will read zero again when clicked backwards, so it's very fast to do.

The notation could be in MOA, turns, a mix of both....it matters not, as long as you can understand it in a panic situation. I went for turns and then remainder in MOA i.e:

    2T/12MOA = 2 full turns, plus 12MOA

I could have written 42MOA (my turrets are 15MOA per revolution) but I figured 2T + 12MOA was easier to read in a hurry than 30MOA + 12MOA? personal choice really?

Anyway, hope this is of some help to anyone in the same boat who has lost track of there dial?

Does it change everytime you remove the action from the stock?. Great idea

Nah, that w\shouldn't effect it. However if you were to change loads or re-zero it...then you'd have to make a new sticker. I've done my load developement and have a load that should be good until the throat wears in say 100-200 rounds...then I'll have to tweek its seating death and maybe re-zero it...but hey, thats longrange shooting for ya.

If it was 2T/13MOA (i.e the re-zero moved 1MOA) I wouldn't bother replacing the sticker as the zero, is always on the 0MOA mark on the turret, so that would be close enough to the first one (2T/12MOA) to get me back to zero, if you get what I mean?
