During my TF career in 1970s-91 there was a 900m mound on defence west melton rifle range and it was used by the west melton fullbore rifle club. our max qualifying shoots were in those days 300m with SLR.
was present a couple of times when irate van loads of fijian nassella tussock grubbers had some incentives to duck&dive as 7.62x51 rounds hurtled over the rifle range butts and sailed about ears courtesy of incorrectly set GPMG sights or SLRs ights.(one a mate of mine who attempted to shoot a 100m series with sights set for 600m on his so called very accurate SLR- cost him a few beers that

The SLR was a great rifle Kotuku. As a young soldier I could do the inch wide by two inches deep grouping standing unsupported bloody near with my eyes closed with the SLR. I couldn't shoot for shit though with the Armalite M16.
    kotuku and Dan88 like this.
It takes 43 muscle's to frown and 17 to smile, but only 3 for proper trigger pull.
What more do we need? If we are above ground and breathing the rest is up to us!
