    Question Random innaccuracy?

    Hi team,
Recently purchased a new Tikka 7mmRM and sighted it for 200m with a drop chart from chronograph. Was shooting lights out for months, then the last two weekends, I've been spraying it!
Few things have changed and I'm curious to hear your opinions on their affect to accuracy...
    - took off my stock to clean some shit out, then screwed it back on
    - change of suppressor. New one looks very close to the barrel at the shoulder (closer to chamber) but gap is enough for me to freely slide a piece of paper. I was paranoid that this may be touching the barrel and causing some issues?

Would either of these factors normally cause some inaccuracy? Otherwise it could just be some user error...

I will sight it in again anyway but would be interested to hear peoples thoughts before I got launching these expensive bullets down range.

    Cheers

You 100% sure you have the action seated back onto the recoil lug OK?

Define "shooting lights out" then "spraying it" ?? What is the dataset you are using to make these determinations?

Do you reload or shoot factory ammo?

Make sure recoil lug seated properly when you refitted stock, then shoot without suppressor perhaps.
If no suppressor = Good and suppressor fitted = bad you know where to look.

Seeing as there is a suppressor involved, I would suggest trying it without the suppressor and/or with the old one if possible. If problem persisits then its probably not the suppressor. I am curious that you state your suppressor is not touching the barrel but all of mine have bushes to make snug contact with the barrel. Is the new suppressor heavier than the old one? It could be a harmonics issue if the suppressor does not have the same frequency or balance as the old one...

My first guess would actualy be as Shamus and Mikee mentioned - I would also check the stock is correctly fitted and the bolts torqued properly. And while it is in front of you just quickly check the other fatening like the scope mounts and make sure they have not worked loose while you were removing stock etc.....Not likely but it has happened to me once...

I reckon it will be the recoil lug. You can reassemble a T3 and have the action screws done up, but the recoil lug is not sitting in the recess in the action properly.

Ripper, thanks for that, I'll check the recoil lug is snug as first port of call. Likely was the issue by the sounds

Is this factory ammo or reloads?

You'll get a POI shift if you have brass headspaced off the belt vs. shoulder.

If you have conventional dies and a factory chamber, you'll land up in the middle between the two until the bolt won't close, no matter what you do.

Look up the Larry Wills (Innovative Technologies) collet dies

Batch of ammo may be different. The action may not be 100 percent, take it apart and put back together evenly as far as d tightening screws the same amount each time to keep the action aligning with the stock evenly. Swap back to old suppressor and try that. Give it a clean, you may have a carbon ring or excessive fouling..

    Tried cleaning the barrel?
    I had similar concerns recently.
Gave it a quick clean with gunslick foam and it instantly tightened up again.
Had just been using inox to keep nasties away. But it appears fouling had got passed the point of being benificial.
