    Remington model 700 bolts

Can someone tell me the length difference or the length of a long bolt ie .306 vs and medium ie .308 bolt of the Remington model 700.
I have two bolts as a has had for about 15 years as his rifles got stolen.

I think one is a long and one a medium, but just want to check.

I happen to have one here. Overall length of a long action bolt is 18.7 cm.

I don't have one so guessing but would say the short one is Model 7 and the longer one M700 short action both 08 family.

This looks like an early Model 7 bolt without the guide rib cut into the right hand lug like the later, not sure if they can be swapped.

True, it's not a given that a random bolt will fit your reciever as Rem handles are 3 piece designs(bolt body, bolt handle and bolt head) all soldered together.
