Speaking of single shots, has anyone ever tried the Merkel K5 rifles?

A vid from a month or so back. Cold bore shot at 430yds. Used a rest on a tripod under the fore-end.

I have the precursor, a k3. It has the alloy action. K5 is steel and a little heavier.

That makes sense. The K5 replaced the more utilitarian looking K3.

My Kimber 257R is a lovely light rifle but I find it hard to shoot accurately.
Today I tried Norway’s approach - the 3 fingers, pulling into the shoulder and the natural lining up on the target.
Great result. Spot on still from the last zero test but a nice 3/4 inch group (5 shots) rather than erratic results with 3 shots.
Then centre hits on the 415 yard gong.
So it’s been invited to come with me tomorrow.

After reading about the fast twist 6mm’s on here the .257R and 115 NBT at 2950 isn’t too shabby. Just a shame it burns pure gold (R26).

Norway, nor-west, stug and 3 others like this.
Restraint is the better part of dignity. Don't justify getting even. Do not do unto others as they do unto you if it will cause harm.

52 gns of 2213 provide 2950 fps in my.257 Rob ai with a 120 Speer. N160 at 48 is close. A few gns less in the std Bob might not be far off this.

I did however get to hunt Roe deer with a Merkel combination rifle (7x64 / .12 gauge), trigger was heavy but I enjoyed it none the less

@7mmsaum you are so right. Saving up to ditch my Swaro scope and put a Nightforce on the Sako carbonlite. The trick is not keeping track of how much you've spent over time.

@25/08 IMP have a Z3 4x12x50, really nice scope and super bright glass (last light performance is amazing). Will swap out with a NF 2x10x42 as have come to learn I value durability first and foremost.
