Depending on model ie 98 or 98/30 the sight should be an inverted v without a shroud or a straight post and shroud. Simplest way I found to alter it was silver solder to build it up and and file it down.
The std rifles start at 300 metres though finnish ones sometimes have a 200 m cut into the slide
With the carbine with fixed bayonet the sights were calibrated for that taking the bayonet off changes the poi badly
