    Target profile question

Is there any paper target profile type that's forbidden on an NZDA (or other for that matter) range please? I’m in discussion with a friend and seeking clarification.

Why don’t you contact NZDA Marlborough, Kaituna Blenheim Rifle Club or one of the other target shooting clubs and ask them since you’re Blenheim based by the look of it.

Yes, human silhouettes or pictures of non-game species.

When I do range sessions for NZDA's HUNTS course we transition from the traditional bullseye-type target (after the rifle is zeroed and the shooter is comfortable) to a deer target so the shooter can practice correct shot placement. I find that it markedly decreases the amount of wounded aminals due to the 'aim for the middle' factor.

However, some ranges are a bit uptight using deer targets on their range.

Have sent a request seeking clarification, but thought rapidity of response more likely through the forum. I can’t find anything online to answer my query.

Fair comment tho I noticed service rifle once(?) permitted fig 12 targets. Interested to established if there’s a formal ruling against inappropriate images.

I would say if any range has a type of target that isn't allowed it would be listed in there RSO's.
As every NZDA is different we use 100 and 200 M NZDA targets as well as Deer Silhouette targets but people also staple up their own targets for sighting in.

Our RSO doesn't disallow a type of target only the construction of materials.

Exactly what happened with my mate, hence seeking clarification. It could be that Standing orders differ from range to range.

some years ago when I was a Mountain safety Firearms Instructor I did the Mountain Safety Range Officer course dont recall anything about unsuitable targets so I guess common sense rules- no target representing a person even though ranges are often littered with the Police nasty rampaging criminal ones - yes they need lessons in tidiness
