I know its just a target but I guess some people will see it as you put up animal targets to practice shooting animals in the right place, what are you putting up human targets for?

Just had a look through NZ Police Shooting Range Manual which all ranges are supposed to follow and there is nothing specifically not allowed in the way of target images. Only rules regarding target construction and placement. So I guess you have to be guided by individual Range Standing Orders which every individual is meant to be conversant with before use of a range. Local Deerstalkers uses standard 300 yard target at 2 & 300 yards, red deer silhouette at 200 yards and occasionally walking boar target at 100 yards. We are currently getting suitable lifelike targets of red deer and chamois printed for use at 200-300 yards, see how that goes. KBRC uses appropriate NRA targets at ranges from 300-900 yards. Other clubs may vary in targets used. Local pistol club has used combat targets in past but usually uses IPSC type targets.

Restraint is the better part of dignity. Don't justify getting even. Do not do unto others as they do unto you if it will cause harm.
Going back a few years we had .22 shoot at deer stalkers, one of the targets was novelty round.hostage n hostile with maybe cm of baddie showing behind goody.... Non PC in this woke time. Sure did make you concentrate.

Greetings all,
NZDA shooting rules have animal targets for both the Wilkinson postal shoot and running boar. The Wilkinson target is a deer silhouette which is in the process of being replaced with an actual deer picture although when is unclear. The running boar target is a pig although international moving target shoots seem to have transitioned to a couple of circles.
GPM.
Oops missed the Silhouette comps with their metal animal outlines.
I'm aware of the fact that there are rules(laws) in Western Australia that outlaws the use of animal targets as it is persieved inhumane(which is silly in my book, its even more inhumane having someone shoot at a live animal without ever practicing shot placement on a photo like target of said animal.
The use of pictures of live sized animals are widely used to train hunters.
We've sometimes stuck 2 animal targets one on top of the other to simulate a wounded animal in the group. If the shooter hits the animal in front its all minuses.
