A mate heard a rumour that to use the range (future) you will need a range master ( something like that) present. The deer stalkers are trying to put a lot of there members through the course. Has anyone heard anything about this or is it just rumours?

Must be because of all the incidents they’ve had at rifle ranges over the years, very dangerous places those rifle ranges. If only they would put the same amount of effort into controlling the gangs as they do to picking on law abiding LICENSED firearm owners.

Yes, range will need a range officer on duty I’m told, unsure if everyone can become a ranger officer and go by themselves. Makes one laugh, Curly bulldozed the range out in the 50s, it’s been an open range to all without major trauma, as far as I know. Now it needs police rules ffs. The thing I find, if I use the range and others are there, you have to talk to them, you have to work together, Ive met some great guys out there and learnt a few tips. It will probably be closed to non NZDA members. But it’s all to be decided.
It would be a real shame to lose it for sure.

It is a real shame, now you will get people sighting their rifles in on forestry tracks and the like. Way better to have them sight in at a controlled environment like a range. This Govt really pathetic, can’t wait to see the back of them.

Yep, I joined Taupo NZDA as an oldie, have a key to the range, leave my wife in town and head out for 1 or 2 hours of mucking about with various rifles. This time, met and old guy with his grandkids and their parents, teaching the kids to use a 22. Had a chat and hopefully he will join the club.

Yeah and Range Managers etc., annual reports to the police amongst other things. Who would want to take on the responsibilites? The likes of Taupo will survive but smaller outfits will just say it's not worth all the hassle, we're done. Part of the master plan....

All true, part of the plan to f us over, wait till they start certifying/applying templates to all ranges.
Then your lifestyle block neighbors dob you in for operating a range.
