As a hunter or precision rifle type target shooter you are looking for long range DOPE. ie trajectory for your own scope/ ammo/rifle beyond your working distance for hunt / practical shooting. Also some experience with wi d although of course you don’t have standard flags out when you’re in the hills !
This is on a big target where you can see your misses exact location out to about 6 moa away.

Prerequisites are that you have at least a good 100m zero confirmed very recently and have validated how much your scope moves ghe shots out to a out 50cm at 100m ( 20moa). Or reticle subtentions but it would be harder to do from a ballistic reticle alone if you’re not dialling.

“Fullbore” aka now “Target Rifle” discipline is prone with sling and aperture sights has no doubt declined over the last 40 years but is still a standardised event with a reasonable sized following in NZ , AU and the UK,with well organised matches and facilities. Rifle sports are fragmented but this is not the smallest of them.
