    yup the jock mystery is solved, worked out how I know him, just need to get out there and do some more walking with the rifle

    Welcome. All of those areas you've been to hold animals, spend plenty of time behind your binos in the mornings and evenings and you will start seeing animals!

    Gidday dannyb. I'm in exactly the same boat (well, possibly the boat behind you). I've just set myself up and also have zero hunting experience, but plenty of bushcraft. I haven't even found anywhere to sight in my (secondhand) Remington .270 yet - too cheap for the $20 fee at McLeans Island. As soon as I do I will be looking for a trip, so if you want to see if two complete novices are better than one, I'd be up for it!
